Raleigh, NC DUI Attorneys

In 2008, over 1.4 million Americans were charged with and convicted of Driving Under the Influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The highest percentage of these arrests (about 32 percent) affected individuals between the ages 21 and 24 years old.

DUI charges are serious, as they can carry large fines, involved sentences and long-term marks on your record.

If your or a loved one has recently been charged with a DUI, set up a free initial consultation with one of the experienced North Carolina DUI lawyers at The Law Offices of Brad Sahl, P.C. Our dedicated professional specialize in discreetly representing clients charged with Driving Under the Influence to help them achieve the best possible outcomes for their cases and move on with their lives.

Information Regarding DUI Charges

A Driving Under the Influence charged can be filed if:

• The driver of a motor vehicle (including watercraft and bicycles) is operating the vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08 or higher

• The driver of a commercial motor vehicle is operating the vehicle with a blood alcohol level over 0.00

It's important to note that use of any impairing substance – alcohol, prescription drugs and/or illicit narcotics – prior to operating a vehicle can merit DUI charges.

Should a defendant be convicted of DUI charges, his/her sentence will depend on:

• The precise BAC (Higher blood alcohol concentrations typically carry harsher sentences).
• Whether anyone was injured or property was damaged
• Whether the individual has a criminal record

In most cases, DUI sentences involve:

• substance abuse education classes
• substance abuse counseling (via Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous, as well as state-run group counseling sessions)
• fines
• community service
• license suspension
• probation

In the worst cases (i.e. when someone has been injured or an individual has a criminal record), the sentence may also include jail time or work furlough programs.

Building Your Defense

When it comes to building your defense, the esteemed Raleigh DUI attorneys at The Law Offices of Brad Sahl, P.C. will investigate all aspects of your case to find out:

• If there was probable cause to arrest you
• The legality of the evidence of your impairment (i.e. how accurate/legal was the blood test or breathalyzer you were given)

While our goal is to get you through the legal system as painlessly and efficiently as possible, our DUI attorneys are also prepared to use their experience in trial proceedings, should that be the most appropriate venue for your case.
